help!!! fixed dependencies error , running fine, until little while ago. logged in after restarting after updates, , ok. screen blinked once, , background showed after little, came fine. thought freak happening, kept using computer. anyways, screen kept doing after while, , had kill computer. when start application. start application , fine little, screen blank out, background appear, gui, several windows gone. started after installed updates. had proposed updates , unsupported updates selected. please me! don't want have wipe ubuntu , start on again. can't without knowing @ least (1) version of ubuntu running, , (2) desktop using. hi all, i'm new ubuntu, pretty common question. i've checked forums answers it, far things i've found either don't apply or don't work. so, installed ubuntu 11.10 onto machine (dell inspiron). wireless internet working fine windows xp , still is. however, when try run in ubuntu, doesn't work. first, found advice run iwconfig in terminal. after bunch of other stuff, said 'disabled'. tried change dell keyboard wireless control. checked iwconfig , still got same thing. realized there drop down menu on top right of desktop network connections. said 'wireless connection', grayed out , said firmware missing. followed person's advice , went system settings-> additional drivers. searched , installed new driver (broadcom sta wireless driver) , restarted. when run iwconfig nothing wireless related shows up. also, no wireless shows on drop down menu on desktop. can see 'wireless connection 1' , ...

hey guys! if thread hopelessly misplaced, please tell me - couldn't find specific forum/subforum this... laptop hard drive has started removing folders on own. started 1 or 2 less important folders retrieve backup, today *entire* 55gb music folder vanished, save 2 subfolders within it. disk usage tells me folder still there, because amount of space used on drive still same. sign telling me computer getting old? because i've had 2 , half years. i'm using dell inspiron 1545 ubuntu 10.10/vista dual-boot. appreciate input! old hard disks do, unfortunately, die-this possible reason randomly missing folders. can see if yours on last legs going disk utility program , running smart tests. hi, i have several layers in premiere timeline. trim cuts using dynamic trimming. can mix types of edit while trimming? example on layer 1 cut needs ripple, while on layer 2 needs roll. able kind of combinations in avid... another question: can slip , slide in dynamic trim mode. far not able select different sides of multiple ripple edits enable that. changing side on 1 cut changes of them face 1 direction only. thanks in advance. i preparing book publishing has been done in indesign 5.5 the book has on 200 images tiff, cmyk, 300 dpi, , random sizes in indesign 100o/o minimun. problem publishers insiting rescale photos in photoshop , crop out thing have not included in indesign files. take me such long time manually needs re inserted, autoupdate links not work since size of image  has changed. there easy way this? tnx!!! assuming exporting pdf, images resampled & cropped during process.   take @ compression tab - default downsample if effective resolution on 450. change 300 see fit. crop image data frame in dialog, enabled default.
