Thread: Postfix help: limit incoming mail to just a few accounts?

hello.
new postfix , have working far, through ssl.
there 1 issue cannot resolve , not sure do.

in nutshell: want mail/web server accept incoming mail addresses user1 , user2, , no 1 else. want local mail not blocked (such cron root).

local delivery working fine.
can receive mail user listed in shadow file (and alias file) , relayed root.....

root getting spammed high heaven.

have 2 books on postfix, have spent many hours day in last week, cannot find how prevent couple users getting incoming mail without blocking normal local mail stuff.

ideas?

howdy,

best source postfix information not books, rather postfix.org web site (http://www.postfix.org/standard_conf...l#some_local):
code:
delivering not accounts locally drawback of sending mail "user@example.com" (instead of "user@hostname.example.com") mail "root" , other system accounts sent central mailhost. in order deliver such accounts locally, can set virtual aliases follows: 1 /etc/postfix/main.cf: 2 virtual_alias_maps = hash:/etc/postfix/virtual 3 4 /etc/postfix/virtual: 5 root root@localhost 6 . . . translation: line 5: described in virtual(5) manual page, bare name "root" matches "root@site" when "site" equal $myorigin, when "site" listed in $mydestination, or when matches $inet_interfaces or $proxy_interfaces. execute command "postmap /etc/postfix/virtual" after editing file.
