Thread: Detection of battery status not working
hi,
i'm experiencing these days has never happened before.
beginning: have acer travelmate 5730, 3 y.o., running 10.04 lts. 1 year ago changed battery 'coz old 1 died. since then, worked charm.
2 days ago using laptop running on battery; battery charged 60%. shut down , 24h battery totally broken: didn't charge anymore , 'upower --dump' saidi kind of resigned buy new battery, when orange light became green: battery charged , working.state: critical
now, battery indicator staked 100%. tried again 'upower --dump' or 'acpi -b' commands , keeps saying battery discharging, though maintaining percentage 100% , energy top.
right i'm running on battery since 1 hour @ least, , here is:
i tried use ibam , says 'no apm data available'; 'acpi -b' reportsfabio@fabuntu:~$ upower --dump

don't know else can do, except count hours use , try avoid shut down.
appreciated
i'd know if problem might related hardware issues or, rather, ubuntu's daemon has stopped working or other reasons.
forgot mention installing battery-status package didn't change much: keeps saying battery charged discharging!
i think problem battery. have battery on hp laptop picked peanuts, gives around 2 hours of power stats in ubuntu sooo wrong. yours reports has 900 odd wh of power , calculates running times of several days. if boot windows , use hp battery checker utility tells me knackered , needs replacing.
fortunately have main battery don't sudden shut downs.
