Thread: Persistent IO error - I missed something important, I guess
on many medias , images, errno5 persist while trying install.
@ moment, i've tried:
tried ubuntu 10.04 , 11.10 , linux mint 12
tried 2 different pen drives , dvd
partitioning like
500mb ext4 on /boot
16gb swap
20gb /
200gb /home
total hd size 500
believe either missed stupid installing first os on pc or there wonr hardware. ask:
- -it had windows before , able install ubuntu 11.10 (although on different hdd region).
- - ran ubuntu 9.04 cd memtest86+ , stoped on 3th pass. had found 1,7 million errors (???) identified processor i7, while i3 2100. mean? did wrong?
- - fsck refuses scan partitions. have install
- a specific filesystem fsck scan partition it? way of testing if hdd fine(other self test)?
- - don't know bios x uefi. might problem . how diagnose if there wrong it?
- - might configuration of motherboard have channge?
- - there 'safer' file systems ? decrease error probability?
