Thread: Power Management problems


have been looking info regarding have not found yet. need guidance on how trouble shoot power management problems. want leave laptop running on desk right itś annoying.

machine sony viao model g73jh. virtually worthless under windows due combination of video freeze , usb bsod bugs. known issues. nice, huh?

linux midknight 3.0.0-17-generic #30-ubuntu smp thu mar 8 20:45:39 utc 2012 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 gnu/linux

1. fan runs @ top speed @ times , loud.

2. possibly related above think cpuś never off either, when supposed to. itś core i7.

3. never returns sleep mode. think have same problem when hibernates. verify.

more info? clues? ideas? give , real job?

dóh! looks might need kernel patch. :-/ hate patching kernels.
