Thread: temporary ver.10.04-LTS-amd64 desk will NOT install permanently; no terminal access
i downloaded ubuntu ver.10.04-lts-desk-amd64 , wubi , ran md5 hash check showed good, clean copy. burned disc , verified disc. inserted disc machine want install on , selected check disc ubuntu list. tool reported disc okay. machine has win 7-64bit running correctly on it.
after selecting language, not matter whether choose "try first.." or "install" machine builds "try first without changes" desktop. when ubuntu desktop ready, unable access terminal! terminal/ command prompt starts in bottom bar, disappears after 2 seconds. when select install ubuntu, ubuntu presents me (sudo) enter administrators password box. have never set password, have no idea enter! leaving blank , pressing enter not work! wrong answers receive either incorrect password, try again or error message: failed run /usr/ bin/ubiquity'gtk_ui' user root. therefore, cannot machine make install permanent. how solve this?
i solved myself. downloaded, md5-hash-checked, burned disc , verified burn on the non-64bit-version! when ran ubuntu 10.04.4-desk-i386.iso version, installed supposed to! now, not know why 64-bit version of ubuntu not install on 64-bit architecture computer running win 7-64bit. can say if experiencing these same troubles, try fix!
thank-you replied in attempt help!
