Thread: Folders go missing after copying to USB Drive!!!
hi,
dual boot.
windows 7 home premium 64-bit edition of dell inspiron laptop. have installed ubuntu 11.10 dual boot option. in ubuntu, windows drive gets detected automatically , backed particular folder windows partition external usb drive.
next time rebooted computer, many folders within backed-up folder went missing! not there in usb drive. booted windows , checked disk errors during boot. did few things deleting index entries, etc...the hard drive clean , has no bad sectors. folders still missing..
how restore these folders?
thanks.
just guess, did safely remove usb drive before unplugging it? since writes usb drive happen asynchronously, unplugging may leave inconsistent file system on usb drive.
