Thread: Partitions and installation set up question

hi guys, i'm still getting used linux , altho have made work way want still have basic knowledge questions have had hard time finding more info about. hope i'm posting in right place.

in system have 2 hard drives
1. 128gb ssd
2. 1tb disk drive.

i'm trying do. must people came windows i'll try explain best of abilities.

in windows had ssd c: , disk drive d: (i understand basics of how linux partitions work , understand more or less same "folders names"). used have "c:" <<ssd>> operating system , of heavier softwares (like main games , on) , "d:" <<disk drive>> else drive (less use programs, main drive documents videos , other trash information did not want in ssd).

want similar in linux, usng advance setting in installation did not work me; way work around leave ssd root , swap , use hdd /home how looking atm:
root partition 100gb
swap partition 28gb
home partition 1tb

thing want able place wine in ssd can install wow , other games take advantage of ssd speed.

, alone same type of question is: there way choose install apps , other softwares? or go between root , /home/user??

in advance time

the partitions have created seem right me. applications installed in root partition , configuration files in root , user specific ones in /home/user. wine , windows programs might able use d:, not know, try it.

remark: swap partition seems large. if have more 2 gb need not make bigger size of ram. otherwise wasted space.

if re-install system. @ moment starts propose partitioning, have choose manual partitioning. here can define partitions. gui relatively simple use not worry. root partition has mount point "/".
