Thread: Cannot log in to the desktop on ubuntu 11.10?

the problem is, log in under terminal, ifup eth0, want in terminal, if use ctrl+alt+f7 goto gnome login screen, after input correct password, system send me same login screen again.


have created new user, didn't work.



have change files under ~/ jichao:jichao(which username) chown -hr jichao:jichao /home/jichao, didn't work too.



searched internet, said should see logs under /var/log/gdm, there not /var/log/gdm directory in box.
