i've tried 12.04 on live usb , fine...but when have installed have wifi problems.

on boot get...

1) waiting network configuration.
2) waiting 60 more seconds network configuration.
3) booting system without full network configuration.
4) log on.
5) system shows wifi router.
6) click on log on.....and message "disconnected-you offline".

can offer suggestions???

why wifi work on live usb , not install?

@daemonrebel:

following worked me (borrowed post #9):

need to
(i) create directories /run , /run/lock,
(ii) move contents of /var/run /run , /var/lock /run/lock,
(iii) delete directories /var/run , /var/lock
(iv) create replacement simlinks; e.g. 'ln -s /run /var/run' , 'ln -s /run/lock /var/lock'

if you've never messed linux, little tricky. booted w/o recovery console (it gets stuck in read mode me sometimes). once point it's hanging , failing boot further, hit ctrl-alt-f1. bring virtual terminal. log in root or sudoer (you should one). attempt move contents of folders described, like:

mkdir /run
mv /var/run/* /run]

etc.

if there in these folders cannot move or delete, it's possible special mount point file. if rm <file> fails, try umount -fl <file> attempt rm <file> again. after move of contents, create symlinks, reboot, , should okay.
