Thread: Gnome 3 - Printer frustrations, lack of certain necessary notifications, etc.

i'm curious if here can fill in blanks me. i've been long time gnome shell fan, tonight installed ubuntu 12.04. new unity sincerely has me second guessing why i'm on gnome shell, unity in 12.04 rather nice. still few things irk me, it's starting take shape.

number 1 gripe far in gnome shell terrible printer setup gui. has 0 features , next no functionality. have konica minolta laserjet printer. within driver database, there konica minolta , minolta. konica minolta drivers not work model, instead, need select minolta. in printer gui within gnome shell can set driver want? ah, wait, can't. cannot select specific connection want, whether it's lpd or ipp, etc. tries predict i'm doing and, i'm sorry, fails @ predicting. there sort of work around this? "how is" or being worked on?

iterate, understand it's young, , features added on time, right now, today, i'm questioning whereabouts of these things.

second on list lack of notifications. tonight in xchat (in unity) pleasantly surprised when saw xchat icon move. sounds stupid, right? when you've been on gnome shell since in beta , haven't seen irc client's icon move when highlighted name, believe me, realize how you've missed this. type of functionality configurable? or wash?

again, looking general advice regarding these few things. they're minor, make me go "what the?!" on it.

you can integrate xchat in ubuntu's messaging menu installing xchat-indicator (or xchat-gnome-indicator xchat-gnome) package. show number of unread messages in launcher, this:

"Could not fill because there are not enough opaque source pixels" - not solved by any other thread

i'm getting error posted in thread's title , have no idea why.  working image not transparent in way. 100% opacity.  in fact, doesn't matter work with, every time try fill selection on layer in doc, error.  ideas???  thanks   scott probably see screen shot of photoshop layers panel open. at point guess can make wrong layer selected, once see screen, else may pop out @ me, or else reading thread. Why can't I change the billing info for my account?

hi all,   about 3 weeks ago issued new corporate cc number. have been trying since find way update in website. everytime try load billing info message 'there has been error on our side, please try again later.' has been happening weeks now. decided, if they're not going fix it, i'll call support.   i reported bug support, no response.   i called support , sat on hold update cc. hung on when should have been answered. happened twice (i'm persistent).   i registered call-back. got call-back, , told needed go person. got warm transfer because of above problem.   this person told me needed talk yet different team, , schedule call me in 1-2 hours.   it has been on week, maybe week , half since supposed receive call-back, , ticket updated yesterday; they've tried reach me no success (yeah, right), them do? left note: call me @ number within next 4 hours, , can settle this. guess got pacific time support team, because called 16 hours later (i'm gmt, way; company u...
