Thread: Changing read/write permissions of file-system folder?

hello there,

first post, hope question not obvious

have ubuntu 10.10 maverick meerkat running on double particion windows xp on hp pavillon dv6120ca laptop.

have of files on 'e:' windows partition sitting on folder '/dos/*' in ubuntu. somehow can't seem edit of files in '/dos/' folder.

have tried commands

pedrito@pedros-hpdv6120:/$ chmod 777 /dos/
chmod: changing permissions of `/dos/': read-only file system

ls -l of / folder gives

drwxrwx--- 34 root plugdev 32768 1969-12-31 19:00 dos

have googled around , apparently need change way '/dos/' or 'e:' particion mounted on startup. , how that, don't know??

lot everyone!

normally windows partitions seem mount /media/uuid. did edit fstab @ make mount /dos?
have partition on computer data storage mount /data, , had set in fstab. can set mount read-only or defaults in fstab well.
