Thread: Two nics, two internet connections

hi,

have 2 nics on machine.

in gui network config, i've set :

wired connection 1 : off
wired connection 2 : on
ip: 172.24.101.10 (manual)
mask: 255.255.255.0
gateway: 172.24.101.1
dns: 172.24.101.1

each nic connected own internet connection.

want connection 2 active internet access.

want use connection 1, within vm only. imagine means i'll bridge connection 1 on vm.

problem have right if turn on connection 1, lose connectivity on connection 2.

connection 1 has following connection params :
ip: 192.168.1.10 (manual)
mask: 255.255.255.0
gateway: 192.168.1.1
dns: 192.168.1.1

how tell linux not use connection 1 ?

remove gateway config ? dns config ?

still let me use connection, bridged, within vm ?

ps: modem 1 set 172.24.101.1, , modem 2 192.168.1.1.

tks.

i guess second connecton overriding routing , dns settings of first one. can verify using commands
route -n
cat /etc/resolv.conf
to view system settings before , after enabling second connection. may have restore these or control them manually if there conflict in automatic configuration using dhcp.

same vm if it's bridged, guess, let's see output above commands first.
