Thread: New Guy Needs Help with Wipe Command

new guy needs wipe

i’m new ubuntu , want use ‘wipe’ clean off hds (wipe off everything). shouldn’t matter sata hds connected via usb adapter.

wipe runs terminal , needs know drive wipe.
being new, don’t know how know or tell wipe drive wipe.

when sfdisk –l following:

device start end # cyls # blocks id system
/dev/sbd1 0+ 12- 13- 102400 7 hpfs/ntfs
/dev/sbd2 12+ 9729- 9717- 78046208 7 hpfs/ntfs
/dev/sbd3 0+ - 0- 0- 0 0 empty
/dev/sbd4 0+ - 0- 0- 0 0 empty

so, entered following wipe command:
wipe –frs /dev/sbd1
, got error
/dev/sbd1: fatal: not lstat: no such file or directory

doing wrong or else should try?
