Thread: Considering to make the switch!

alright i'm windows user. i've dabbled little in past linux builds , i've done specific boot cd distros specific tasks came repairing windows os etc. network administrator, (ccna, a+, net+, security+, mcse) above average user.

have dedicated media center computer single 500gb os hdd followed 3x 1.5tb hdds, 1x 2tb , 1x 1tb hard drives total of 7.5tb across 5 hdds used storage. keep on these dvd rips, full video_ts file structure .vob files hundreds of movies. i've used windows mce 2005, vista , windows 7 home premium , me able view , play these files i've installed various plugins , these seem work well.

have chiftec media center case looks receiver , has soundgraph imon vfd screen on front of ( http://www.soundgraph.com/vfd-feature-en/ ) , says there linux driver support. other that, system switched tri-core phenom new amd llano fusion apu a8 system i've loved far. have hauppage mce150 tuner card i'm not worried using have directv , used movies only. last thing, have bluetooth usb adapter connect logitech keyboard/mouse touchpad combo need have working.

saw , intrigued , appearance of media center capabilities in ubuntu tv ( http://www.ubuntu.com/devices/tv ) want know this:
1. able have os read moviename/video_ts/files.vob files , automatically download cover artwork brief summary , list of cast members? current setup references imdb gather info.
2. os support "out of box" or needing lot of downloading , installing accomplish this?
3. feature in full ubuntu installation or possible have tv functionality , basic web browser?
4. if yes above question, installation modular? in ability add soundgraph imon drivers/software make front screen work?

don't mind if need take caution , time figure out installation long subsequent use of going easy , painless. i'm curious if on correct path on getting have full desktop hardware "dumbed" down simple media player movies.

advise, tips, suggestions, recommendations appreciated.

understanding reading of publicity ubuntu tv intended put in tvs , other devices pre-installed.

think sensible because os can modified work hardware works out of box.

not sure ubuntu tv aspect included in standard ubuntu distribution. then, know?

know this, @ moment people have difficulty getting ubuntu work on hardware. there such wide range of hardware possibilities next impossible produce linux distribution guaranteed work out of box, put it. add tv tuner cards mix. can imagine problems?

have dtv card not work in linux. if ubuntu tv released distribution , download it, not work tv card. , coming on forum expecting have answers. out of range of forum.

there web site dedicated video (tv cards) in linux. developers there try find ways of getting these tv cards work in linux. if card not work in linux not work in ubuntu.

so, anyway, doubtful of ubuntu tv ever being released part of ubuntu distribution. besides, there ubuntu variant designed vdr capablities - mythbuntu.

"Could not fill because there are not enough opaque source pixels" - not solved by any other thread

i'm getting error posted in thread's title , have no idea why.  working image not transparent in way. 100% opacity.  in fact, doesn't matter work with, every time try fill selection on layer in doc, error.  ideas???  thanks   scott probably see screen shot of photoshop layers panel open. at point guess can make wrong layer selected, once see screen, else may pop out @ me, or else reading thread. Why can't I change the billing info for my account?

hi all,   about 3 weeks ago issued new corporate cc number. have been trying since find way update in website. everytime try load billing info message 'there has been error on our side, please try again later.' has been happening weeks now. decided, if they're not going fix it, i'll call support.   i reported bug support, no response.   i called support , sat on hold update cc. hung on when should have been answered. happened twice (i'm persistent).   i registered call-back. got call-back, , told needed go person. got warm transfer because of above problem.   this person told me needed talk yet different team, , schedule call me in 1-2 hours.   it has been on week, maybe week , half since supposed receive call-back, , ticket updated yesterday; they've tried reach me no success (yeah, right), them do? left note: call me @ number within next 4 hours, , can settle this. guess got pacific time support team, because called 16 hours later (i'm gmt, way; company u...
