Thread: After fresh installation: no space left on device?

i have installed kubuntu 11.10 on machine 300gb hdd. went well; did basic installation (just accepting default settings, except allowed use of full disk, removing windows), , copied home directory old machine using "scp -r", less 3gb of material.

however, when attempt add more things, "no space left on device", , df produces following output:

filesystem 1k-blocks used available use% mounted on
/dev/sda1 303867232 288837784 0 100% /

don't know whether related or different issue, can't start x claims "xkb: failed compile keymap", , "failed activate core devices".

know what's going on here, , how can fix it? suppose can fresh install, how can prevent happening again?

thanks,
-a

seems .wine directory (from old computer) kept getting recursively copied onto new computer, until du reported usage of 272gb 1 directory. i'm deleting it...

-a.
