Redirecting directory - not page.
i've since moved website wordpress bc. page 301 redirects work fine. i'm having difficulty redirecting "directories."
for instance, wordpress creates post - typically www.domain.com/2013/03/this-is-my-post/
the issue there no extension on page name.
what not want go , create 100+ fake index pages bc recongnize page.
is there solution redictring pages this. htaccess not work obviously.
thanks!
you going have manually create each url redirect individually- you'll need recreate pages on old site somewehre on new site (like blog posts) , once ready on bc site you'll have redirect them. can make redirects , pages or without url.
here's suggest-- first, use wordpress plugin http://wordpress.org/plugins/navayan-csv-export/ export page data csv , open csv file in google docs, excel or other spreadsheet program.
on bc there's way import redirects @ once -- if goto site domains > url redirects > import url redirects there button download import file. download bc's import file , delete in besides column names (like instructions , sample data). read instructions first familiar spreadsheet. then, paste urls wordpress exported csv file "old url" column in bc import spreadsheet.
now, have old urls in 1 column , need add new urls other column before importing bc.
the real way download bc site's sitemap.xml file... should @ http://yourdomain.com/sitemap.xml. if file not exist , 404 error, there's hidden page can access (not in bc admin menus anymore) visit url: http://yourdomain.com/adminconsole/#!/utilities/seo.aspx
obviously, replaec yourdomain.com bc site domain , on screen should re-enable sitemaps. takes 24 hours generate if it's not there right away after re-enable sitemap.xml wait day. have access sitemap.xml file need save file hitting ctrl-s or cmd-s in browser when viewing sitemap.xml file.
once sitemap.xml file saved locally can use online tool convert xml data csv file open spreadsheet. i've used http://www.luxonsoftware.com/converter/xmltoexcel , works great. 1 download csv file site , unzip it, open , copy file urls.
copy urls sitemap.xml convertd csv file @ once temporary column on bc import spreadsheet , move them on one-by-one new url column match old url next it.
it's going take time that's quickest way can think of 300+ pages. can use whatever urls want have manually point each old url new ones , there's no "smart folder redirect".
there new feature on bc if have url called @ "/contact-us" , visits url "/contact" should find contact page automatically i'm not sure that's going work blog posts, etc.
