Thread: wiping out old install

i've been playing 11.10 awhile, , hit problem (posted in thread) has me considering re-installation. might choose 10.04 time.

question is, how go clearing old system drive? drive partitioned windows 7 well, can't clobber entire thing. how can remove vestiges of ubuntu before re-installing?

thanks.

how ubuntu system installed? of sitting in 1 partition, root partition / ? or did have /home partition or /boot partition?

if have / , can install new version of ubuntu onto partition using 'manual' method select/edit partitions. way old system wiped.

check looks following commands
code:
sudo fdisk -lu
code:
df
and post output of commands if want interpret it.

if ubuntu uses several partitions, better reformat file systems gparted (from live cd or usb drive, example ubuntu install cd/usb drive).
