Thread: can't use SoX with Jack

hello,

i'm 3 months old newbie ubuntu/linux, please gentle...

i'm using ubuntu 10.10 , i'm trying use sox jack audio driver. (while i'm using jack other audio applications)

sox won't output sound. i've tried options described in manual (such set audiodriver or play -t alsa....etc.)but won't give me errors, not output audio.

it's frustrating. can't play audio file...

here's information when start jackd command: 'jackd -r -d alsa -s -r 48000 -x seq'

memory locking unlimited - dangerous. should alter line:
@audio - memlock unlimited
in /etc/limits.conf read:
@audio - memlock 737577
no message buffer overruns
jack compiled system v shm support.
loading driver ..
apparent rate = 48000
creating alsa driver ... hw:0|hw:0|1024|2|48000|0|0|nomon|swmeter|soft-mode|32bit
control device hw:0
configuring 48000hz, period = 1024 frames (21.3 ms), buffer = 2 periods
alsa: final selected sample format capture: 32bit integer little-endian
alsa: use 2 periods capture
alsa: final selected sample format playback: 32bit integer little-endian
alsa: use 2 periods playback

how can run sox command without quitting jack environment?

thank you.
