Font licensing questions
i have been searching around , trying confirm few things *think* know it's confusing me:
- client wants publish ebook, pdf displayed online (rather kindle ebook, etc.). downloaded others, though, fee. access pdf both online , offline (if purchase it). haven't chosen font, go standard system font (minion, myriad, etc.). assuming go adobe font, covered legally use typeface in way?
- correct in telling client if use system font (say, minion), , have on computer well, may use further commercial purposes without worrying getting license? understand license come play if did not have font on computer.
- web use? if wanted use standard font minion website, need separate license? i'm not web designer -- focus on static graphics -- if hire web designer later, want make sure can still follow style guide, point suggesting specific fonts use.
thanks insight.
kejtia,
a crucial aspect whether font needs transferred receiver/viewer.
a pdf has font(s) embedded can use system fonts pdfs without licence issues.
for web , similar uses, may include style guides prioritised use of fonts, , visitors see best choice of font available on computers.
there uses (special) licences necessary.
i hope dov see thread , give fuller answer.
