Thread: Realtek ALC861: No sound, ALSA error and Volume control at 0


hi there,

tried hardware forum no luck, maybe should use forum question surely absolute beginner.

installed lubuntu 11.10 on toshiba dynabook cx/875ls.
after digging in windows, confirmed soundcard should realtek alc861.

sound not work, there 2 issues can see:
- in task bar, volume control @ 0 , cannot move it.
- when first opening audacious, following error message displayed: alsa error - no suitable mixer element found.

read lot of posts not find solution.
not sure how troubleshoot driver issues in linux

getting lost, appreciate guidance.

check additional drivers whether available if can activate there
it'll automatically download , install
need reboot system after
