Thread: Dual boot with Vista

i need 11.10 installation here.

i'm looking create dual boot between windows vista , ubuntu 11.10. attempted shrink vista partition around 100gb on 250gb hdd, inside of windows partition manager, said had 38gb available shrink volume.

looked around , saw needed either boot safe mode or use 3rd party program partition. safe mode didn't work @ all, computer restarts safe mode login screen comes up.

i'm thinking use gparted, realize break windows install in way. have vista install cd, , i'm assuming has sort of repair option vista installation. option right now, use gparted create partition ubuntu, , repair windows install after that?

, knowing vista, i'll have use easybcd or fix mbr mess.

before shrinking windows partition defragment , defragment again! windows spews data on partition without defragmentation reasonably inaccurate report how can shrink.

shrink windows partitions windows software; not gparted.

fix boot problem try boot-repair, in repositories or available download bootable disk, or super grub disk.
