LR5: Possible problem in synchronize folder with symlinks?

hi all,

i'm trying lr5 on a mac. in particular, i'm experimenting new workflow remote files , smart previews; here's did

  1. import root folder (say, /user/mycroft/lightroom) 2 sub-folders , b, containing (say) 100 images each
  2. create smart previews
  3. shut down lr
  4. move sub-folder b nas (so files visible /volumes/mynas/b)
  5. replace b symbolic link pointing /volumes/mynas/b (note: unix symbolic link, i.e. "ln -s").

roughly, works fine; however, if click on b... "synchronize folder", lr outputs "import new photos (100)" , "remove missing photos catalog (100)", regardless of whether link online or offline.

now, believe lr thinks files different because "sees through" link , realizes "true" file path "/volumes/mynas/b" (instead, used /user/mycroft/lightroom). probably, fix clicking on "update folder location", not want to, because plan transparently move either or b to/from nas, according needs, , not want touch catalog everytime move folder.

any ideas?

mh
