Confused about using downloaded gradients/brushes from the internet

i'm relatively new photoshop. i'm working on , found gradient online wanted use on deviantart. free , didn't have problems downloading it.

however, want use in photoshop cs6 don't know how open it. i've tried while in gradient editor pressing load button , opening way didn't work.

i have feeling need move file downloaded different location in computer, don't know or how.

please help!

downloaded content can on location on hard drive. there default location load , save options first, files don't have there. after have loaded these presets, part of program , delete file downloaded , still work (until reset photoshop's preferences/settings reason). gradients saved/loaded sets, if there 1 gradient in set.

here screen shots show how it's done:

1. select gradient tool

2. click gradient drop-down tool options bar.

3. click gear settings icon.

4. select load gradients

5. in open dialog box, navigate folder you've downloaded/saved gradient file. select file , click open.

6. gradients added existing list of gradients. scroll down list in gradient drop-down in tool option bar select gradient.
