Thread: WMP600N wireless card fails to restart

here current wireless card

system ubuntu 10.04.2 lts
kernel 2.6.38 64 bit

when system boots card shows wlan0 when run ifconfig, , connect network (wpa2).

however, if turn interface off doing ifconfig wlan0 down not able turn on.

far can tell have right driver installed latest firmware.

running etc/init.d/networking restart not fix problem. ends saying same thing when run ifconfig wlan0 up:

siocsifflags: input/output error

solution far has been restart computer, impractical because there lot of things require turning interface off.

suggestions appreciated. in advance.
