Thread: Change default network connection?

hi there...

have 2 internet connections. 1 mobile broadband (evdo/cdma) connection using usb-dongle modem. other 1 public wifi.

problem is, mobile broadband, although higher bandwidth, unreliable. there problems hardware (modem) issued provider. connection disconnects. need consistently continuous connectivity reason , while i'm trying find solution problem, i'm making use of wifi reliable doesn't disconnect isp. however, bandwidth of wifi router quite low.

network manager in ubuntu has automatically chosen wifi default connection , although both connections active, applications use wifi connection when it's available (which always, unless intentionally disconnect).

choose mobile broadband (ppp0) default connection applications use mobile broadband whenever available , use wifi when mobile broadband connection not available.

however, after lot of internet search, still unable find way manually select default connection ppp0 instead of wlan0. me out please?

i'm quite novice on linux had same problem. have printer connected wireless router it's got no internet, alike using mobile phone connect internet. anyway when connect wireless couldn't browse internet. use ubuntu 11.10. here's how resolved:

go network manager(network connections, @ end of connections list on task bar). select wireless tab, select network , click edit on ipv4 tab, you'll see routes below. click on , you'll see option "use connection resourses on network" check , click ok , save. both printer , mobile connection works fine.
