Thread: Formatting and partitioning Hard Disk

i have old desktop stopped booting in windows xp. installed ubuntu 11.10 try , 40gb hd partitioned 25gb (the useless) winxp , 15 gb ubuntu.

ubuntu plan on installing 12.04 when released. however, may want add linux mint in future.

here's question. since no longer want keep xp partition recommendations formating , partitioning boot drive? please remember want leave open maybe add linux os in future.

can let ubuntu os , later (other) linux take care of partitioning correctly? 1 either mint or zorin; both ubuntu based.

believe so.

have not tried dual booting, because switched straight on ubuntu.

have messed several other distros, including zorin, , mint.

, far know, give same
"install along side current operating system"
option during setup.
