Thread: Problems with network manager connecting to wireless


hello all, i've tried looking through of problems wireless networking , can't quite find 1 resolves issue. here's deal.

install of ubuntu 11.10 on laptop week old, , wireless working proprietary broadcom sta wireless drivers. i'm not sure if due update or what, shut laptop down, , today can't connect wireless network.

network manager shows wireless interface, , shows access point. however, when click on it, nothing happens. device lspci:

so far i've tried stopping , restarting network manager, rebooting, removing , reinstalling driver additional drivers window, , i've installed firmware-b43-lpphy-installer via software center. i've removed , reinstalled bcmwl-kernel-source. none of seems change anything. appreciated. thanks!

ok, got working... sort of. , how.

ran sudo gnome-nettool. selected wireless device , hit "configure". went wireless , add. manually entered information ap trying connect (i'd never connected before). able double click o list , connected.

note had sudo gnome-nettool, b/c clicking network manager icon , going edit connections -> add left greyed out.

hope helps else somewhere. if has insight why things this, i'd love hear explanation. still "wrong", @ least have working wireless connection now.
