Thread: Why can firefox never load java applets properly on Ubuntu?

i'm learning how make java applets @ moment pain in *** because have boot windows vm test them. ever since can remember, java applets have given me mad trouble , responsible 95% of every browser crash thats happened me. firefox on windows seems deal applets fine. heres example:
http://www.muq.org/~cynbe/java/classes/hello/hello.html
can load page fine on windows 7. on ubuntu, firefox crashes before page comes up. in past, i've noticed when force firefox shut down after java applet crashed it, computer remains slow , according system monitor, process thats eating memory java. theres no process i've had manually kill more times java. have no idea problem is. installed jdk 7 comes own firefox plugin. disabled icedtea java plugin , left jdk 7 1 enabled still have same problem. half applets come across either crash browser or don't work @ all. applets, highly complex ones work reason, whereas in other situations, simple hello world applets crash firefox. idea problem , how fix it?

are using openjdk or oracle java?
