Thread: Error while trying to update

i getting error while trying update ubuntu 11.10.
"w:failed fetch gzip:/var/lib/apt/lists/partial/us.archive.ubuntu.com_ubuntu_dists_oneiric_main_so urce_sources hash sum mismatch
, e:some index files failed download. have been ignored, or old ones used instead."

have no clue how address this.

read in post regarding deleting ppas.

try running these commands in order:

code:

sudo apt-get clean

code:

sudo cd /var/lib/apt

code:

sudo mv lists lists.old

code:

sudo mkdir -p lists/partial

code:

sudo apt-get clean

code:

sudo apt-get update
