Thread: Checking battery state... and hangs

hi,

tried upgrading 11.4 11.10 typing
code:
sudo do-release-upgrade
it downloaded packages during on 4 hours (slow connection), took on 1 more hour install everything. said had reboot.

typed y "yes, reboot".

stopped things, , reached stage saying:
checking battery state... ok

, nothing. pressed button , stopped completely. pressed again start it.

grub functions. option on top of list 30.0.0.17 or that. when selected, screen displays "kubuntu" little dots underneath it, if booting normally.

reverts white upon black text. sais "i'm starting this, i'm stopping that", last line again becomes "checking battery state". , nothing. wish forget battery, computer plugged mains anyway.

tried failsafe options. @ 1 point said not find screen. copied xorg.conf.failsafe on xorg.conf. @ point seemed saying file system read-only, not startx or xinit because not write lock file somewhere. can't install packages nor apt-get update because not connect internet.

tried
code:
sudo service kdm start
and when failed tried
code:
sudo service kdm stop sudo service gdm start
it seems whatever ends checking battery state.

please help.

bump
