Thread: windows 7 became unbootable

my friend had dual boot of kubuntu 10.04 , windows7. few days back, formated entire linux partition , after restarting, grub displays error , windows 7 not booting. how revert windows boot loader ?and doesnt have windows repair cd. there possibilty of installing grub through ubuntu live session ( without installing ubuntu again)?

yes, should run grub-install terminal, i'm not sure if autodetect windows 7 on install. if friend's ntldr damaged, i'm not quite sure able use grub @ boot windows, believe grub chainloads nt boot loader. may need windows disc in end.

code:
sudo grub-install /dev/sdx
x drive.
