Thread: adding new hard drive and then beta

i want try out 12.04 beta getting new hard drive. been happy lucid if i'm going have move on want used things, eg if need switch libreoffice need see how it's going work.

1) can install 12.04 new drive within lucid once i've partitioned it?

2) can rely on grub add new installation on new hard drive? there should know/anticipate? on bootup? right there twenty kernels, plus xp @ bottom of list.

1. why install within lucid? in same way if don't have ubuntu. fire cd , take there.

2. yes, can rely on grub2 lucid add 12.04 menu. if plan keep using grub2 lucid, need tell 12.04 not install bootloader when installing. not sure if can because in 11.10 removed option not install bootloader, had select location install it. in case it's same in 12.04 want keep grub2 lucid running show, can use manual install method , tell bootloader install on same 12.04 disk. keep booting lucid disk , problem solved.
if use 1 of auto methods when installing 12.04 not sure bootloader go, whether sda or sdb.
depending how things, might need run update-grub in lucid 12.04 shows up.

if use grub2 12.04 notice list of kernels doesn't show more. there 1 entry previous versions combining older kernels under it. menu looks bit tidier. in case, can remove old kernels in lucid , list shrink too.
