Thread: Problem getting 10.04 LTS kernel source

i'm running 10.04 lts, , need rebuild kernel modified config file. i'm trying following procedure spelled out @ https://help.ubuntu.com/community/kernel/compile, i'm running problem when try download source. here's command , output.
code:
$ sudo apt-get build-dep --no-install-recommends linux-image-$(uname -r) reading package lists... done building dependency tree reading state information... done picking 'linux-source-2.6.34.1' source package instead of 'linux-image-2.6.34.1' e: unable find source package linux-source-2.6.34.1 $
i'd grateful this. thanks.

for of want or need rebuild kernel, can download source code config file links above, wrote before there wont anymore included kernel source archive, have package called linux-source-2.6.34.1-blackjack_2.6.34.1-1_i386.deb contains kernel source code patches.
... here. wondering if kernel still about. using 2.6.38-** on 10.04 boxes (not on 1 can't specific, sorry).

1 thing should before compiling kernel update. upgrade, (this not upgrade newer release, apps , packages). 1 after other in terminal:

code:
sudo apt-get update sudo apt-get upgrade
btw, have gcc installed???

code:
sudo apt-get install gcc
you won't far without it, doubt that's issue.
