Thread: Generic recovery mode


i trying start laptop in recovery mode don't know should type after ~$. don't know means. when start laptop there list of different versions of ubuntu linux such ubuntu linux 2.6.32-39 generic (recovery mode) , regular start thread without (recovery mode). commands type in after ~$ finish booting computer? stuck in section of start , out i'll have hard shut down , start over. linux hard me understand change windows. greately appreciated. thanks.

version of ubuntu running

make , model of laptop

running ubuntu or ubuntu , windows?

has booted before now?
