Thread: Switching from 11.10's Unity back to GNOME - how?


i aware have lot of learning ubuntu linux before me, thought take 1 final shortcut start myself off on right foot first of all.

changed 8.10 11.10 (with lot of help) , in bargain got unity. prefer gnome. gnome (besides, plenty of course material have on hands meant worked through using gnome). when go ubuntu software center , try download gnome, message "this link must opened application".

few pointers right way go appreciated, or pointers material read on far how go software downloading in 11.10. synaptic &c. exists, best way down learning this, synaptic , not, going course program , structured around gnome.

for gnome2
sudo apt-get install gnome-session-fallback

gnome3
sudo apt-get install gnome-shell

can install both , select on login.
