Thread: No /dev/dvd folder?
forgive me, i'm still new ubuntu, , still feeling way about.
on earlier distribution, 10.something-or-other, able play dvds without incident after installing various restricted directories , libraries. however, since upgrading 11.10, i've been unable play dvd movies. games , music cds seem come fine, movies either not show @ all, or appear blank disk.
after flailing , re-installing various directories, attempted see if system @ least see drive. following various advice, sought out "/dev/dvd" folder, find doesn't exist. thing appears similar "/dev/disk", don't think it's same thing.
i'm @ general loss, think know enough see issue, not fix it. again, forgive me if simple, easy fix, appreciate offered. thank in advance.
you might have modify /etc/udev/rules.d/70-persistent-cd.rules correct symlinks created udev. search ask ubuntu detailed instructions (try "/dev/dvd" search terms). after editing file, can make changes take effect without rebooting typing "sudo udevadm trigger".
