Thread: Two Routers on FTP Server

  • ubuntu 11.10 server installed proftp , has 1 nic connecting switch
  • router 1 sits on public side of internet , connects server via switch
  • router 2 sits on private side of lan , connects server via switch

connection looks follows:

r1 wan (intern) ----> r1 lan (172.16.10.254) -->
--> swtitch ----> proftp 172.16.10.245
r2 wan (10.1.1.14) ----> r2 lan (172.16.10.252) -->

network configuration proftp server is
address 172.16.10.245
gateway 172.16.10.254

ftp services work router 1 configuration - our clients can connect , can connect.
however, wanting shave little time off of upload process (100 mbs vs 10 mbs) router 2 configuratio deployed uploading files private side of our network proftp sv.
r2 can ping both server , other router unable connect server either ftp or ssh services. double , tripple checked router configuration no joy.

because proftp server uses r1 gateway?
ideas helpful.

my first guess need custom static routes. if understand correctly routers running linux-like os?

post routes on both?
code:
route -n    ip route show
if you're not able run on routers, run ftp server, , different machine on wan.

regards.
