Thread: problems booting -up dell


i have posted previous thread discontinued when problem resolved itself. have dell inspiron 530 desktop. problem follows. boot , computer comes on, monitor comes on, monitor goes off, computer goes off , cycle repeats itself. if , when reach stage when can enter set-up or boot-up menu, things proceed okay. however, pass stage lately , has gone cycle. have ubuntu install; not dual boot problem.things have done resolve problem.read ubuntu literature find,per suggestion when posted thread,,but found no clue cause. ran dell utility check hardware, , particularly hard drive, found no problems. tried boot-repair. backed-up , reinstall 10-4. installed 11-10.i managed read message dell read:
alert previous attempts @ booting system have failed @ checkpoint 50.the computer failed complete boot routine on 3 consecutive times same error.
contacted dell no 1 tell me meant ; advice given run dell utility disc.
searched on line above error , suggestion cmos error due faulty battery. though date still accurate, changed battery on mother board. on boot-up. same problem occurred, proceeded successful boot-up. should mention after re-installation, before battery change, computer booted no problems on fifteen occasions.
