Thread: White House Linux Migration Petition

hey people!

folks on @ archlinux forums have created following petition:

white house linux migration petition.

petition has 18 signatures now, , needs 25000 end of april.

considering urgency this, did not bother checking if posted here. urge all of sign petition (apparently not limited residents only). urge venerable mods move appropriate subforum if feel gain more visibility there (and merge existing thread of does).

believe issue not limited government alone, affects global visibility of gnu/linux whole.

way, there such petition uk government well:

they know:

cost of migrating new system, retraining hundreds of thousands of staff, , dealing compatibility issues far outweigh benefit of savings on ms licences. sad true.

real campaigning needs targetted @ schools , colleges, prevent generations of children growing , being convinced there "only" windows , there "only" office.

if develops linux distro aimed @ addressing
hardware/software compatibility issues rather showcasing design talent there may hope. until then, governments of uk , take advice repeated on forum:

"use works you"

support idea of petitions realise chances of them being successful on national level slim @ present time.
