i keep receiving warnings need update adobe reader. have latest version of adobe reaxer x (10.1.7). when click on "check updates" told no updates available.   i have tried installing adobe reader xi but, when launch it, receive error message stating "mail client cannot fulfill messaging request".   i not want use microsoft outlook (or other mail client). how install adobe reader xi without default mail client being required? title says all. finished installing xubuntu (11.10) couple of hours ago on hp g60-458dx laptop. took me while, found fix turning off tap-to-click on synaptics touchpad: code: /usr/bin/synclient tapbutton1=0 that works great either me or root (sudo), when add line /etc/rc.local ... doesn't take affect after reboot. checked execution perms on rc.local, checked syntax - good. if run /etc/rc.local manually, it's supposed to, leads me believe /etc/rc.local isn't being fired off on init. /etc/rc2.d/ has s99rc.local file looks, should kicked off init, apparently isn't. thoughts? on positive note - @ same time swapped out drive crucial m4 64gb ssd .... whew! bootup time less 20 seconds , that's including 14 or seconds takes through bios. should give clear picture of how fast thing is: code: $ time sudo find / -type f -name thisthingisfast [sudo] password billy: real 0m7.811s user 0m0.524s sys 0m1.228s ...
